Church Open for All Services and Programs on Saturday and Sunday
Dear friends,
The snowfall this past week and a half has been quite amazing. It has given us all time at home and in our neighborhoods. The piles of snow will linger for a good long time, indeed.
I’m hoping that you are digging out and ready to relieve some cabin fever by now. The church lot is plowed magnificently and the Trustees have cleared the walks into church. The youth are meeting for Broken Bean Cafe on Saturday evening at 7:30 pm. We’re hoping for a huge turnout. The music and food combination in the fellowship hall provide a great social atmosphere for high schoolers and middle school youth. All are welcome.
Because we missed communion both last Sunday and in January, the Session has authorized the Lord’s Supper for both services on Sunday morning. New Song will be singing. Plus, Sunday School will be at full tilt in between the services. Come visit with your friends and be present when we praise God together in the sanctuary. It’s a good way to get out and to get going again.
Finally, do let us know if there are folks with any needs. Our deacons have been checking in with folks in their zones to see if they are doing okay. If you know of someone who is stuck or needing some encouragement or assistance, let us know so that we can reach out.
Peace to you,
Pastor Dave
Activities Cancelled This Evening — Wednesday, Feb. 10th
Friends,
St. Andrew Church and Office are closed today due to inclement weather. Therefore, all activities for this evening are cancelled. Please call the church office and/or check this website for updates.
Blessings and peace to you all.
Sunday Home Worship
SERVICES CANCELLED for 2/7/2010
With historic snow fall upon us, we are CANCELLING all Sunday activities at St. Andrew. So, there will be NO worship services or Sunday School. We do encourage you to create Sanctuary in your homes this Sunday with family and/or personal devotion. Pastor Dave will send out and make available via the church website a simple liturgy and the sermon for Sunday. Perhaps, you may find your Sanctuary near the hearth, around your home table or in the quiet place of your favorite chair this Sunday. Blessings to you and your family in finding ways to connect with our God in worship, prayer and in Word.
We are also CANCELLING the Unbinding your Heart Leader Training. Reminder: We are still signing people up for Unbinding Your Heart, our church-wide Lenten, Small group program. Please contact the church office or speak with Pastors Dave and Jessica or Chairperson, Polly Frank, about getting connected to one of the groups forming. Groups are forming on Sunday mornings and afternoons, Wednesday evenings, a group in Leesburg and even a men’s group meeting Saturday mornings at the Purcellville Family Restaurant.
Sunday afternoon’s Youth Super Bowl Party is also CANCELLED. The Souper Bowl of Caring Collection to benefit Teens Opposing Poverty is postponed until next week, Feb. 14th.
May God surround you with the peace, hope and love that may warm you this cold, windy and snowy weekend and keep you safe!
Pastors Dave and Jessica
PS – We can be reached at home or via cell if needed.
WEEKEND SCHEDULE AT 2/5-7
Friends and Family,
Snow seems to be headed our way again, big time! Here’s the plan for the time being.
With a great deal of disappointment, we are postponing the Family Game Night and Potluck scheduled for Friday evening. More than fifty people are signed up to attend. The initiative from the Fellowship Committee was spot on. We’ll find another time to do this again. In the meantime, see if you can round up family and neighbors for some quality time around the table on Friday night. Here’s hoping that while the weather outside may be frightful, but the fire inside can be delightful!
We are planning to have church open on Sunday morning. Because we are a commuter lot for the Loudoun County bus service to Washington, the county is great about clearing our lot. Our St. Andrew Trustees are also getting very practiced at clearing the walkways into the church. Their efforts are much, much appreciated. For now we plan to have our regular schedule for Sunday: Services at 9 and 11, Sunday School at 9:45.
There is some likelihood this will change, of course. We will have updates on the church phone (540) 338-4332, the website www.standrew-pres.org, and we will also send out another email to update you. In case we are unable to open church, I will send you an abbreviated bulletin and a sermon for you to read and share at home. Please plan to worship God on Sunday with our congregation, whether together or in the sanctuary you make of your home.
Blessings on you all. Stay safe. Give thanks to God in all you say and do.
Grace and peace,
Pastor Dave
Worship Services and Congregational Meeting will be held as planned.
- Worship at 9:00 am
- Worship at 11:00 am
- St. Andrew annual congregational meeting in the fellowship hall following the 11:00 am service
